Welcome to the Department of Medical Biotechnology

The department of Medical Biotechnology was established in 2003 and is currently located in Gustav-Meyer-Allee 25 in Berlin Mitte on the former premises of the AEG corporation. We supervise all students majoring Medical Biotechnology whether in a Bachelor- or Masterprogram. Furthermore, Prof. Roland Lauster, Head of the department, takes responsibility for the Diplomstudiengang Biotechnologie (German form of studies until the implementation of the Bachelor and Master System) as the Head of the Examination Board for this form of studies. With his retirement in September 2020, Prof. Lauster will also be released from his duties as Head of the Examination Board for the Diplomstudiengang Biotechnologie. Prof. Lauster still does accept candidates for a Bachelor and Master thesis, although in reduced numbers. Doctoral candidates, however, are advised to contact the other professors in the department alternatively as there is no capacity, nor time left for an adequate supervision.

Our department successfully spun out TissUse with Dr. Uwe Marx as Head of the firm. TissUse pioneers in Human-on-a-Chip developments and has its own premises as well as homepage. For further Information on TissUse just click on the picture and follow the link.

Cellbricks is another successful spin-off focused on 3D printing human tissues. For further Information on Cellbricks simply click on the picture and follow the link.
